Columbia, Weill Cornell, and NewYork-Presbyterian are working together to implement Epic, an integrated electronic medical record, across all three of our institutions. Our goal is to ensure that each of our world-class physicians has access to patient data where and when they need it to deliver care.
Our three institutions chose Epic as our shared electronic medical record. Epic has been in this business since 1979 and currently provides electronic medical record software for most of the nation’s leading hospitals and academic medical centers.
We began our collaboration in 2017 and, by 2022, all of the physicians groups and hospitals of Columbia, Weill Cornell, and NewYork-Presbyterian will be on this shared platform. Epic provides patients with access to a secure portal which will allow you to communicate with your physician and their office, schedule appointments, request medication refills, and manage your overall health record more easily. Weill Cornell Medicine patients already have access to this portal and it will become available to all patients as their physician practices implement Epic in 2020 and 2021.
